Questions Answered
Are you offering therapy online?
I am currently offering therapy sessions online, via secure video and phone platforms (also called “telehealth”), or in person in my Bryn Mawr office if you prefer. Let me know if you would like to set up a consultation to learn more about the services I offer.
Where do you practice?
My office is in Bryn Mawr, PA. I am authorized by PSYPACT to provide telehealth to clients in 42 states.
Do you accept health insurance?
I do not participate with insurance, so I am considered an out-of-network provider. If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, I can provide customized receipts for you to submit. If you’re unsure about your benefits, I encourage you to call your insurance company and ask the following:
Does my plan include out-of-network behavioral health benefits?
If so, is there a deductible? What is it?
What is the “allowable rate” for psychotherapy with a doctoral-level psychologist? Is the rate different for telehealth appointments, and if so, what is that rate?
What percentage of the allowable rate will be reimbursed?
Is there a limit on the number of sessions I can attend in a given time period using out-of-network benefits?
What is the process for submitting out-of-network receipts?
How does payment work?
Payment is made by credit card, cash, Venmo, or Zelle.
Do I need a physician referral or diagnosis before I meet with you?
No referral or diagnosis is needed. In fact, most people can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives. Long-term stress and mood difficulties can be taxing for your immune system, so as we work together, we will be supporting your overall health. I would be glad to answer your questions related to referrals, healthcare, and diagnosis.
How long are sessions?
Generally, sessions last 45 minutes. Should you find it difficult to organize and get into deeper issues in 45 minutes due to your trauma or other concerns, we will discuss the possibility of having a double session.
How often will we meet?
I provide weekly or more frequent therapy. Therapy is most effective if we are meeting at least once a week, because that maintains momentum and maximizes learning and growth. People usually meet with me until they feel ready to conclude our work.
I have never tried therapy before; what should I expect?
I offer a paid 45 minute consultation, hoping that you could experience a sample therapy and receive some professional perspective of your concerns. Once we decide to work together, I will ask you basic personal information (DOB, Address, Phone and your emergency contact and others), and we’ll come up with a treatment plan together.
